Neural dynamics of emotion, learning, and memory

We use a multi-disciplinary approach to understand the neuronal mechanisms of fear and anxiety behaviours

Our goal is to learn how experiences modify neuronal circuit physiology to form memories, and how these functional alterations oppose or promote flexible emotional behaviour. To identify the neuronal mechanisms of fear and anxiety states, our lab uses multiple techniques to record time-series neuronal activity during fear and anxiety behaviours. We aim to understand the neuronal circuit motifs that support fear and anxiety behaviors, with the hope that our circuit models may inform novel therapeutics to treat individuals living with mental illness.
